What are we going to do today?

Elementary edu

As I sit here watching Little Bill with the boy, I am wondering about its impact on him as a learner. His attention span is about 15 minutes before he loses interest. But he loves the music, on this show or any other, he likes watching the “big” kids do their thing in school or the neighborhood or wherever any show happens to be based.

After almost a year of practicing sign language for “more” we have started to see him making the same motion (roughly) while eating. But it takes a try or two to decode what he wants more of.

He has pretty good fine motor skills. He has a Fisher-Price phone that he is able to push some smaller buttons on. He takes his time and gets it just right.

Do you Twitter?

I have created a Twitter account. It was one of those “Everybody’s doing it” – moments. Please feel free to add me (id: mrpotter) and we can Twit @ each other like 2 Twit-wits. See, I made a funny.

Life Happens

I haven’t been posting here in awhile. I have had a mountain of other things to do and I still have work to do, both inside and outside of school.

But we all do, don’t we? We sacrifice what we can to make it through the day. For some it is a blog, for others it could be a clean living space, for still others it could be books or Google Reader.  For some of us, it is all of the above.  :) Throw in the holidays, add a dash of grading every six weeks and you have a busy, busy day, every day.

If I was going to think about how you work around all of this, I would say preparation and maximize your time. Be prepared to use every free minute to work on “your life” whatever that might include. Get ready for each of these events. If you know you need to take a salad to Auntie’s for the Holiday feast, prepare it the night before or get up earlier than usual. It may mean sacrificing free time, but you will lessen your stress, hopefully.
